Staying the Course to Self Realization -Kriya Satsang

Staying The Course

What does it take to stay the course to Self-Realization?

1) One pointedness – The ability to stay focused, and to avoid distractions.

2) Sincerity – Willingness to come to terms with your changeless nature, and to remain earnest in doing what needs done to stay established in the Self.

3) Adaptability – The ability to change thoughts and behaviors based on inner realizations. Casting off what is no longer needed without attachment.

4) Contentment – To let be “what is”, while taking appropriate action in the present.

5) Stillness – Learning to be still externally as well as internally.

Self-realization is not what we “think” it is. It is beyond the mind. Learning to go beyond the mind takes dedication and a willingness to confront erroneous ideas about who and what we think we are. Preconceptions and expectations about the process can get in the way of real progress.

While being the Self does not take progress, because you can never not be the Self. Knowing the reality of what you are is a whole different matter. For the majority of the population, to know the Self takes commitment, intention, and work. For a world attached to the material creation (objects of the mind included) the results of this work are often very intangible, and so many give up or don’t even try. Those who are inspired to take up this task are blessed. They will see the other shore, and finally understand “why all the fuss?” so long as they stay the course and do not waver.
